The Consistency Rule: Why It Exists and How to Work With It

Our 50% consistency rule isn't designed to hold you back. It's designed to make you a better trader. Here's how to use it to your advantage.

The consistency rule is probably our most discussed evaluation requirement. Some traders love it. Some initially resist it. But almost every funded trader eventually agrees: it makes them better.

What the Rule Says

No single trading day can account for more than 50% of your total profit at the time of passing. If your profit target is $3,000 and you make $2,000 on day one, you can't pass until your remaining profits total at least $2,000 across other days.

Why We Have It

It prevents lucky passes. A trader who catches one big move on one day hasn't proven they can trade consistently. Our funded accounts need traders who can generate returns day after day, week after week.

It builds real skills. When you can't rely on one big trade to pass, you're forced to develop a repeatable process. This process is what keeps you profitable in the funded stage.

It protects your funded account. Traders who pass with consistent profits tend to maintain consistency in their funded accounts. Traders who pass with one lucky day tend to blow their funded accounts within the first month.

How to Work With It

Set daily targets. Divide your profit target by 15-20 trading days. That's your daily goal. Hit it and stop trading.

Track your best day percentage. Keep a running total of your profits and make sure no single day exceeds 50% of the total.

Diversify your trading sessions. Instead of trading only the open, try adding a midday or end-of-day session. More sessions mean more opportunities to spread your profits.

The Funded Stage

In funded accounts, the consistency rule drops to 40%, giving you more flexibility. This acknowledges that once you've proven consistency in the evaluation, you've earned a bit more room to capitalize on exceptional opportunities.
